Boat Mechanic



The Boat Mechanic is in direct support to EODESU and reports to the PM. They are responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of tactical watercraft and associated tools and equipment at the assigned shop. This posting is for a position at EODESU Coronado, CA).
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment failures; repair and maintain outboard motor engines on various size watercraft.
  • Rebuild outboard engines.
  • Adjust and repair ignition, fuel, electrical, hydraulic and steering systems.
  • Operate hoisting and jacking equipment, power tools, measuring instruments, gauges and meters; lubricating equipment.
  • Perform shop management functions such as maintenance scheduling and spare parts inventory control.
  • Operate Government vehicles and watercraft for the purpose of diagnosis and testing of equipment faults and completed repairs.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance assigned in accordance with Navy PMS standards.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Certified Marine Outboard Engine Mechanic
  • Capable of operating test equipment, electrical hand tools, basic hand tools. 
  • Experienced and knowledgeable using/managing the Navy PMS system.
Other Required Qualification:
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to apply for and maintain a government driver’s license for all government vehicles assigned.
Other Desired Qualification:
  • Prior Navy or Marine Corps engine mechanic rating/MOS.
Other Desired Experience:
  • Experience supporting USN EOD commands.
  • Experience supporting expeditionary units.
